What to do after a toilet overflow?

The last thing you want to see after you flush the toilet is the water rising.

A flooded toilet can cause major water damage that can lead to costly repairs. When the toilet overflows, you need to immediately turn off the water supply. Open the tank and rig the float to prevent more water from filling the tank. Remove the excess water from the bowl by using a wet vacuum or cup. Dry the area around the toilet and disinfect everything that came in contact with the water. Plunge the toilet to remove any blockages and then flush the toilet again.
